"YOU ARE GETTING SLEEEEPPYYY"...NOT...
Hypnosis certainly holds a stereotype and is very often misunderstood.

The stereotype of hypnosis is often of somebody standing on a stage, commanding an audience member to do something absurd, like "quack like a duck!"
In reality...
Hypnosis is a very natural state of mind. In fact, we go into hypnosis ALL the time. We go into hypnosis every.single.day.
Hypnosis is simply a state of hyper-focused attention coupled with relaxation. We experience hypnosis AT LEAST twice a day. At the very least we experience it at that moment when you’re conscious but very, very relaxed, right when you're waking up and falling asleep-- that is hypnosis. But also when you're doing something and tuning out all other distractions!
✨Have you ever been so engrossed in something that you tune out the sounds or distractions around you? That’s hypnosis.
✨What about driving down the highway and forgetting the last few miles? That’s also hypnosis.
✨ Daydreaming is also hypnosis (I daydream probably as much as I sleep-dream)
This is allll hypnosis—and mostly how hypnosis feels in session.
So now you're probably wondering WHY you should even try hypnosis...
When done with intention, hypnosis can help us rewire the brain. When I say "rewire", I mean that we are creating new beliefs. Our core beliefs run like a circuit through our minds and directly impact our interaction with the world and how we show up.
These core beliefs create a chain of feelings and behaviors that attempt to protect from feeling the hurtful wound (the core belief). When in reality, the chain ends up hurting us different and sometimes for painful ways.
Here's a quick example:
Core belief: "I'm not enough"
Behavior: *overworking to prove oneself to others* 🔜 🔜
Emotion: Anxiety- to prove to yourself and others that you ARE enough. Then there might have anxiety around work, “I don’t want to miss that deadline [because that will prove that I am not enough]” 🔜 🔜
Behavior: Poor boundaries/putting yourself last-- you may put friends, family and work before your own needs [to prove further reinforce "evidence" that you're valuable] 🔜 🔜
Emotion: Burnout and irritability- you're overworked and overwhelmed by the pressure to "be enough" !
And so on, so forth...
THIS CYCLE IS EXHAUSTING !!
Hypnosis is here to change that belief, even deeper that "I am enough" but into "I am enough, and I am valuable in xxx ways"
How on earth does this magical process happen?!
Well, there are a bunch of components that could get boring or confusing. However, I will share that a tool I work with are theta waves.
Theta waves are a frequency of electric wavelengths that are produced in the brain; they are a realm of our subconsciousness mind. Theta waves are found in connection with creativity, intuition, daydreaming, and fantasizing. Essentially, when you are in a trance state, your brain is present in theta waves.
When we are between the ages of 0-7 our brain is CONSTANTLY in the state of theta. This is why it's so easy for kids to learn and absorb things 'like a sponge'. By stepping into brain states that are the same as our formative years of childhood allow us to re-access those learned behaviors that live in our subconscious mind.
Theta waves can be a tremendously impactful tool for rewiring the brain to form new thought patterns and behaviors during hypnosis.
